Compassionate, evidence-based therapy for adults in Los Angeles seeking greater balance, self-understanding, and lasting change through life's challenges and transitions.

MEET SEAN

Hello, I’m Sean, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I believe therapy is a space for reflection, growth, and meaningful change. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, grief, or a major life transition, you don’t have to work through it alone.

With well over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at many different stages of life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I combine evidence-based therapeutic approaches with a holistic understanding of each person, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, feel heard, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and develop the tools needed to create meaningful change in your life.

At Renewal Therapy & Wellness, therapy is not simply about reducing symptoms - it’s about helping you reconnect with yourself, build resilience, and move toward a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and authentic.

My Approach

I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, thoughtfully blending them to fit your individual needs, experiences, and goals. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and our work together will evolve based on what is most helpful to you. Some of my specialties are:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

helps you recognize unhelpful patterns in your thoughts and behaviors and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

provides practical tools for managing difficult emotions, reducing impulsive reactions, improving relationships, and navigating stressful situations more effectively.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

helps you slow down, become more present, and develop greater awareness of your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Through grounding, breathing, and mindfulness techniques, you can learn to manage stress and anxiety, regulate emotions, and respond to life’s challenges with greater intention and balance.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

helps you explore what may be holding you back while strengthening your motivation, confidence, and readiness to make meaningful changes.

Psychodynamic Therapy

explores how past experiences, relationships, and recurring emotional patterns may be influencing how you think, feel, and connect with others today. Developing greater insight into these patterns can create opportunities for deeper and lasting change.

Solution-Focused Therapy

builds upon your existing strengths and resources, helping you identify practical steps toward the life and changes you want to create.

Therapy works best as a collaborative process.

You are the expert on your experiences, and my role is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based support. Together, we'll better understand your experiences, identify patterns that may no longer be serving you, and develop practical tools that help you move toward the life you want to create.

My approach is holistic and client-centered, recognizing that meaningful change often happens when we feel both supported and challenged in thoughtful ways. Rather than relying on a single method, I integrate these approaches to create a therapeutic experience that is collaborative, practical, and uniquely tailored to you.

My Client Focus

I work with individuals navigating depression, anxiety and panic, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. You may feel stuck in negative thought patterns, weighed down by past experiences, overwhelmed by constant worry, or caught in cycles of self-doubt.

I especially enjoy working with clients who are ready for something to change, even if they’re not quite sure where to begin. You don’t need to have all the answers or feel completely motivated from the start - just a willingness to show up, be curious, and take an active role in the therapeutic process.

Together, we can better understand what’s keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and work toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.

My Communication Style

My communication style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and speaking openly about what you’re experiencing.

I listen closely not only to what you say, but also to the emotions, experiences, and patterns behind your words. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation, and I take an active role in the process - asking thoughtful questions, offering perspective, and helping you explore things in new ways.

I am supportive and encouraging, but I also believe in being honest and direct when appropriate. At times, meaningful growth requires us to gently challenge old patterns, consider different perspectives, and step outside of what feels familiar.

Above all, I want you to feel heard, respected, and supported while also feeling encouraged to move toward the changes that matter to you.

Our First Session & Setting Goals

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’re currently experiencing, important parts of your story, and what you hope might be different because of our work together. I may ask about your history, relationships, current challenges, strengths, and the support systems you have in your life.

There’s no need to have everything figured out before you arrive. Part of our work is making sense of what you’re experiencing together and identifying where you’d like to begin.

I believe the most meaningful goals are created collaboratively. Whether you want to reduce anxiety, work through depression or trauma, strengthen your relationships, build confidence, or simply feel more like yourself again, we’ll identify what matters most to you and turn those hopes into clear, realistic goals.

As therapy progresses, we’ll continue to check in on those goals, recognize your progress, and adjust our direction when needed. Therapy is a process, and our work can evolve as you grow, gain insight, and discover what you need along the way.

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist grew from both a genuine passion for connecting with people and an understanding that life can be complicated. Like many people, I’ve had my own experiences navigating life’s challenges, including anxiety, change, and growing up within a family shaped by divorce. These experiences have given me a personal appreciation for how our circumstances, relationships, and past experiences can influence who we become and how we move through the world.

Over time, that understanding developed into a desire to help others navigate their own challenges. I was drawn to this work because I believe there is something incredibly meaningful about creating a space where people can feel understood, gain perspective, and begin moving toward something different.

What continues to inspire me is seeing clients rediscover their strengths, build resilience, and find hope during difficult seasons of life. I don’t believe being a therapist means having all the answers. Instead, I see my role as walking alongside you, helping you better understand yourself, recognizing what may be holding you back, and discovering what meaningful change looks like for you.

Being trusted with someone’s story and having the opportunity to witness their growth remains one of the most meaningful parts of the work I do.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A supportive beginning to meaningful change.

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and it's okay if you're not entirely sure where to begin.

Our first session is simply a conversation- an opportunity to share your story, explore what you're navigating, and discuss what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we'll identify goals that feel meaningful and create a path forward that honors your unique experiences and needs.

Wherever you find yourself today, you don't have to navigate it alone. Therapy can be a place for healing, growth, and meaningful renewal.
